Hey Chicken 2006
collage and charcoal on paper
7 x 4-1/2 inches
This is a collage that I did in the spring of 2006. It is from a series of collages composed on old book endpages. The image of the bird was cut from an old children's book and adhered to a ground of collaged paper on a blank endpage that was removed from an old book. The word balloon was cut from a 1970's comic book, and the words were mostly peeled away. The title is taken (stolen) from the first song on the Loose Fur disc "Born Again in the USA" which came out a few weeks after I finished the piece. I feel that the spirit of the piece is reflected in the line from the song "Hey chicken, you're all talk". Whenever I look at this piece I hear the song in my head, and when I hear the song, I think about this piece. Either way, it makes me smile.
Here's the video for the song.

Freaky! My son gravitated to a book in the library. It is a Japanese book of the same show for this song video. LOL! He'll love to see this! Thanks, Robin. Keep up the interesting blog!
